I think I've saved about an hour of unnecessary work each time. I've loaded up all of my approximately 60 blogs that I follow, and voila, it tells me when and if there is a new post to read. This morning? Only 2 to read. How much time is that!! Wow! I'm so thrilled about this.
Little things keep me entertained I tell you. I'm a cheap date.
Does this mean I should go and find more quilty blogs to read? hmmm.
I'm also thinking of joining a bee. not sure yet.
Very homesick to move back to BC right now. I look at photos of my old home and tears well up. :( It's time to move back. I miss ethnicity, sushi, indian food, old friends and family politics. I even miss higher taxes and being mortgage poor. Well, maybe not that.
My husband has now programmed two COUNTRY music stations in the van. If that isn't motivation to move back, I don't know what is. LOL
Google reader is as good (and much cheaper!) than buying a ton of crafting books on Amazon. I read updates with my morning coffee, email stuff to myself to read/investigate further in the evenings, forward stuff to my friends and family - all from the same place. Don't know now what I'd do without it. Welcome to GR world - only be careful that you don't fall into the trap of just reading and not doing!
ReplyDeleteGoogle reader is an amazing tool I use every day! I keep up with your blog there, along with 187 other mostly quilt sites! ( Cluck, Cluck, Sew had a great blog list going back in July that I used to "connect" with other spots) I do agree with Amanda, though, limit your time or you'll have none of the creating going, just the inspiration. Have fun! Pokey
ReplyDeleteI have a GR too, but I prefer to see each blog. The bloggers put so much time into making their blog a pleasant place to be and to upload pics and you don't get that through GR. I subscribe through live bookmarks and I just go through my book mark pane and click on the name of each blog and if there is a new post it shows up with a different symbol in front on the title. Super quick and I get to actually visit each blog.
ReplyDeleteYes, it means you have to join mine!
ReplyDeleteDo join a bee - so much fun, and a push to go beyond your usual limitations! My reader is packed with hundreds of blogs and I cannot keep up - it's great but be selective about who you add or you will never get off the computer!!
ReplyDeleteWelcome to the world of Google Reader! It really opened up a much larger world to me, because I could read so many more blogs in the same time (or less!) that it would take me to jump from bookmark to bookmark.
ReplyDeleteThanks for commenting on my blog! I am happy that I linked over and found yours. I've been reading through some of your older posts. Hope you had fun in my neck of the woods (the Carolinas)!
Well, you could always move to Calgary...
